The preliminary phase of the preparation of Sciacchetrail 2024 is over. The 300 participants have been selected

With the draw on Saturday 4 November held in Vernazza, the 300 athletes who will participate in Sciacchetrail 47k 2024 have been selected. There was a large foreign participation, with the new rule that requires at least one male and one female representative for each foreign country.

In fact, there are 75 foreign athletes who come from all over the world, from neighboring France and Germany to the United States and Australia.

Now begins the second phase for the athletes, the athletic preparation that will lead them to face the more than 47 km of ring with departure and arrival in Monterosso al Mare, those hard climbs and descents and that journey that has now become an international event. A workout that will have to lead the body to be ready for this long effort, with 2600 m of elevation gain and some decidedly important climbs: one above all the “Beccara”, which leaves Riomaggiore behind to climb the ridge towards Manarola

In the meantime, we all have in our eyes and minds what has happened in recent days to our countries, a real storm that has tormented our territory for days. There has been damage but we also know that the maintenance teams are already working to fix all the problems present.

Everything will be ready to try the route in the coming months.

The road to Sciacchetrail 100k also continues. The work done on the paths to be recovered and restored is increasing, including the one on the 523c, recently reopened thanks to the collaboration with Giuliano Bellavigna and the CAI of La Spezia and the Proloco “Insieme per Biassa”.

An ancient path important both for the sandstone quarries present and for the ancient wine trade of the Cinque Terre, connects Sella di Carpena with the town of Biassa, passing near the ancient church of San Martin Vecchio, the ancient seat of the Biassea community, one of the oldest in the area.
