SciaccheTrail 2023: seventh edition

On March 25, the ultra trail dedicated to the wine symbol of the cultural landscape returns to the paths of the Cinque Terre National Park. A weekend of sport full of events dedicated to families, wine astronauts and nature lovers. The director Casarosa signs the artist’s bib.

 

(Genoa, 20 March 2023) – Solitude, group, estrangement, liberation, fatigue, nature: running is a primordial instinct that has become mass sport, music, literature, animation, event.

Everything is ready in the Cinque Terre for the seventh edition of SciaccheTrail, the ultra running race inspired by sciacchetrà, a race that takes place on the paths of the Cinque Terre National Park, among the vineyards that produce the precious passito.

The selected three hundred runners on March 25th will face a track of 47km and 2600m of positive level, crossing all the diversity of the Park’s habitats, from the Mediterranean scrub to the terraced terrain, from the sunny rocky environments of the coast to the woods of the ridge, passing through the Marian sanctuaries that watch over the villages with unprecedented visions of the UNESCO World Heritage landscape.

Among the confirmations of past editions, the presence of the village for families with the appointment dedicated to the tasting of Sciacchetrà and the return of the race for children.

The combination of art / runner is renewed with the artist’s bib: the hand that drew a still image of the race is that of Disney Pixar director Enrico Casarosa, author of the animated film dedicated to the Cinque Terre “Luca”.

The event begins on Friday 24th with the delivery of the bibs and the awarding of the plaque in memory of the vigneron Alberto Cappellini, producer of the “Forlini Cappellini” label that together with his wife Germana inspired the young producers of the Cinque Terre. Alberto’s son, Giacomo, will award the Valtellina trail champion Marco De Gasperi, in recognition of his commitment to sparking the human spark that forged SciaccheTrail.

Saturday 25 is a day of competition: departure in Monterosso from Piazza Tina Anselmi at 7:30 am and opening of the SciaccheTrail Village at 10 am.

Starting at noon, at the tensile structure of the square, the famous Pasta Party organized by the Pro Loco of Monterosso and the Cinque Terre Consortium will open, waiting for the first arrivals.

The award ceremony will follow at 4 pm. At 5:30 pm blind tasting of Sciacchetrà with sommeliers Yvonne Riccobaldi, Valentina and Susanna Barbieri.

Sunday 26 the event moves to the castle of Riomaggiore, where, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Cinque Terre DOC, in the frame of the RioDiVino food and wine event, the launch of SciaccheTrail100 will be carried out, a competition that by popular demand runs on the 100km of route, on a track that goes to re-establish the historical-commercial link between the Cinque Terre and the Val di Vara, Levanto, Biassa.

In Monterosso, in Piazza Tina Anselmi, at 10 am the Sciacchetrail Village reopens with the Traditional Walnut Game.

At 2:30 pm, from Piazza Garibaldi, departure of the mini SciaccheTrail dedicated to girls and boys, with prizes for everyone.

The closing of the event will take place at 17.

Environmental sustainability is a focal point of the SciaccheTrail philosophy, which adheres to Itra’s green manifesto.

The hall of fame of the event is enriched this year by a Ligurian name: the Sanremo Michele Graglia, who went from internationally renowned top model to one of the strongest ultrarunners in the world. Sciacchetrail is organized by ASD Cinque Terre and Cinque Terre Trekking,
